Job Description
We are looking for a freight sales agent who is experienced in building a customer base of shippers, providing customer support, all on a commission-only basis as a 1099 independent contractor a forwarder/3PL owner. Key responsibilities include sales, and customer service, requiring strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving skills, and a self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit to manage the entire logistics process and grow their book of business. Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development:Â Prospect, cold call, and secure new clients (shippers) who need freight moved.
- Carrier Recruitment & Management:Â Not Required as we have solutions with carriers in place.
- Customer Service:Â Build strong client relationships, handle inquiries, and maintain consistent follow-up and support.
- Record Keeping:Â Utilize CRM or other software to track leads, interactions, and deals.
- Problem-Solving:Â Address unexpected issues such as delays, damages, or route problems.

- Sales & Negotiation:Â The ability to sell freight solutions, present rates, and negotiate terms.
- Customer Service & Relationship Building:Â Maintaining strong client relationships is crucial for repeat business.
- Communication:Â Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with shippers and carriers.
- Self-Motivation & Discipline:Â As an independent contractor, you must be self-directed and able to work independently.
- Attention to Detail:Â Essential for managing complex logistics and documentation.
- Problem-Solving:Â Proactively identifying and resolving logistical challenges.
- Computer Proficiency:Â Familiarity with software like Word, Excel, and CRM platforms for managing operations.
Compensation & Structure
- Commission-Based:.Income is earned on a straight commission, typically a percentage of the gross profit from each load.
- Independent Contractor (1099):.You are an independent contractor working for a larger, licensed freight brokerage, rather than an employee.
- No Licensing Required:.Unlike freight brokers, agents do not need a license, bond, or certification to operate.
- No Back-Office Support:.Agents are typically not responsible for invoicing, collections, or managing credit, allowing them to focus on sales and customer relationships.
